Where: Chepstow Racecourse. When: 14th-16th August. What: The Bloom Festival. August sees the return of the widely appreciated Bloom Festival, with this years’ line-up being one of the most diverse so far. Self-described as “an independent family friendly boutique festival with bags of character and loads of charm”, this unique festival is one for the ‘more sophisticated’ camper.

BLOOM FESTIVAL PREVIEW
CHARLOTTE MOSS

Boasting six musical arenas and an outstanding, diverse line up to boot, Bloom is a place where families and children are more than welcome. There is a dedicated “Kids Zone” where the kids (or adults, if they feel so inclined) can get their faces painted, make mud sculptures or just chill in one of the creative art workshops. There will also be graffiti artists on site all weekend, working on pieces as well as taking part in ‘graffiti tag team battles’.

And to top it off; you can book an already-pitched and fully equipped tent, or a tipi, or a quirky gypsy caravan! Situated in the aptly names Tangerine Fields, the pre-pitched tents are all yours for the entire weekend.

Last year, Bloom was the proud host to a then-unknown Florence and the Machine, proving that there may well be a future mega-star in this year’s ranks. The acts to play this year include Alessi’s Ark, Josh Wellar, Tom Middleton, CagedBaby, MiMo, Filthy Dukes, Frankmusik, Noah and the Whale, Utah Saints, plus dozens and dozens more. Already Frankmusik is gaining wide recognition, as well as Noah and the Whale and Alessi’s Ark.

========FESTIVAL CANCELLED========

If you managed to get yourself a ticket for this year’s Bloom, then you have several options: you can upgrade you’re ticket for £22.50 and get a full weekend of festival fun at Beachdown. Or you can upgrade your ticket for £55 and get a full weekend ticket for Big Chill festival.

No matter what you decide to do with you ticket from these options, all Bloom ticket holders will instantly receive a ticket for Bloom 2010 and another one for free. These will be sent out to you within a few weeks. There’s a big party being planned right now for the same weekend that Bloom was supposed to be on this year. It’ll be free to all Bloom 2009 ticket holders, they’re way of saying sorry. More info to come on that one.
