Ok, so first off I must iterate the fact that this particular run down is in no particular order, nor is it a definitive list of the best British record labels of all time (as if such a breakdown could ever be truly quantified). FRANKMUSIK

The first images that come to mind when listening to Frankmusik are the inevitable target audience of hoards of screaming teens. Another alternative audience are dancing youths new to the ‘club scene’. His music is very typical of the audience of teen girls just discovering

the world of dance music. He can act as a very good transition between the two worlds of pop and ‘proper’ dance music. All his tunes have a good backbone of a pulsating beat (especially Better Off As 2) coupled with good lyrics which bring in the vital pop factor that lets the aforementioned target audience relate so well with him.

Being signed to the major Island Records label speaks of widespread stardom in his future. He’s currently embarking on a UK tour of his album, which kicked off on the 17th July in Brighton. And to add a small but significant point, these UK tour dates include one in Scotland (in Glasgow), which always brings respect to an artist. So many performers claim to be ‘touring the UK’ and only play in England, which is highly frustrating for all the Scottish and Welsh fans.

For any up-and-coming artist, it’s always beneficial to venture into these countries because it widens the listening numbers exponentially.

Anyway, after that little (but highly justified) ramble, Frankmusik just played at the coveted T4 On The Beach on Sunday 19th July to a vast crowd of those dancing teens we’ve talked about. His name seems to be popping up in the media and on billboards and posters around the streets, but his music is still unknown to many. Although his romantic involvement with Holly Valance being spread over the media can’t help but raise his profile too.

Time Will Tell is one song that acts as an excellent introduction to him as an artist. It’s a small piece of dancing genius which is guaranteed to rile up a crowd even if they’re all oblivious to the Frankmusikal origins. All his tunes definitely have a certain something that makes them highly addictive. From the medium-speed beats to the simple-to-follow lyrics, the music doesn’t contain any complex or confusing mixtures. His voice is also of the simple nature, but works well with dance music. Once his new album gets some airtime and exposure in clubs, shops, radio etc, then I think Mr. Frank will be up next to Cascada and the like in the dance appreciation rankings.
