Ok, so first off I must iterate the fact that this particular run down is in no particular order, nor is it a definitive list of the best British record labels of all time (as if such a breakdown could ever be truly quantified). It is simply a list of some personal favourites within the British...MORE>>

KAMI THOMPSON

The Myspace page states Alternative/Grunge/Powerpop as the genres to Kami Thompson's music. Replace the genre "Grunge" with "Country/Folk" and it would be closer to the truth. Even closer would be to replace all three genres and instead place the word "Genuis". That's what this music is, that's how "Little Boy Blue" was created, and that's the way Kami Thompson is.

The simple drum beat lays the foundations from the beginning, and the guitar helps it along nicely. However, a good song becomes a

fantastic song as soon as Kami begins to sing. This is something special, something that not only the UK should be proud of, but - in an era of saturation throughout the industry - something that the entire music world should admire. Subtle guitar lines between lyrics are a joy to listen to (and in-fact, bring to mind Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits fame), the way her voice rises at the end of the line "You're gonna miss me" is bliss, and if she ever disappeared, I most likely would crave her

return as well. The breakdown around 2.45 fits perfectly, the song could have ended well and to carry it on was a risk, but with "Where's my heart gone I Wonder" Kami keeps the song flowing. Thank god it didn't end, and when it picks up pace again...well words cannot explain it. Music like this doesn't come along often, but when it does - my god it's sublime.

The Myspace page also states
"I Won't Touch It, You Can't Make Me" and "Little Boy Blue" could not back this statement up to a better degree. Kami Thompson does what she wants. This music is for pleasure, not a swift buck, not manufactured. This is real. This is amazing. This is beauty in sound. I previously stated that Ella Edmondson's "Hold Your Horses" was the song of the year and that'd be tough to beat, this might just be that song. The decision is difficult. All I can say is give me Kami Thompson over any Indie/Pop music around at the moment anyday. Music like this should be topping the charts, unfortunately not many people want to make quality music anymore, although it is comforting to know that there are people out there with talent. Once you hear them, you wont forget it. Kami Thompson is in that level of quality. Easily.
