Ok, so first off I must iterate the fact that this particular run down is in no particular order, nor is it a definitive list of the best British record labels of all time (as if such a breakdown could ever be truly quantified). With a band name like “Official Secrets Act” you wouldn’t expect this London group to get very far. However, with a record label already behind them (One Little Indian) they seem to be heading in the right direction, and the music isn’t bad either. “So Tomorrow” is a funky, indie song with a slight Joy Division touch. Never mind The Wombats telling you to dance to Joy Division, these guys are playing a clearly Joy Division influenced sound.

The song instantly kicks in with an indie guitar riff, with bass and drums playing a minor role. This then builds with the vocals until the chorus which undoubtedly will have people up and down the country chanting along. It is extremely difficult to even think that this song will not be a hit, it fits in with the current scene and is terribly – almost annoyingly – catchy, so watch this space
Despite their clear ability to produce high standard material, Official Secrets Act are not without their weak points. On “So
Tomorrow” Tom Charge Burke’s (vocals/guitar) voice doesn’t fit perfectly to the music.
In my opinion, if he tried a more Ian Curtis style rather than the chirpy indie vocals
that are on the track then they’d be on course to have a modern-
As was mentioned earlier, Official Secrets Act have a chart hit on their hands, and if they continue at this rate you’ll be hearing them a lot very soon. All in all, “So Tomorrow” provides the listener with an up tempo, dance/new wave/pop song which has received attention from Zane Lowe and the BBC, and if Official Secrets Act just deal with their lyrical problem then they’ll be on course to be the next big thing.
