Ok, so first off I must iterate the fact that this particular run down is in no particular order, nor is it a definitive list of the best British record labels of all time (as if such a breakdown could ever be truly quantified). RELENTLESS WAKESTOCK 2009

Moby, The Noisettes, Chicane, Ebony Bones, Calvin Harris. Just a small selection of the line-up performing on the Friday of Wakestock festival 2009. We travelled to Abersoch, Wales to witness the 10th Anniversary of Europe’s Largest Wakeboarding Festival and we were not disappointed. The rain may have come down but the did not deter the thousands of festival goers from getting wired on caffeine thanks to Wakestock’s sponsor - Relentless Energy Drink - and partying the night away.

Relentless Wakestock 2009

The happy campers swarmed to the main stage at 3pm to catch Agnes perform her most famous track ‘Release Me’ after which we had a surprise performance from the Red Arrows. The guys put on a brilliant display that tugged at the patriotic heart strings.

The festival was beginning to warm up, we had sets from Flamboyant Bella, Dirty Goods and Wall Street Riots on the XFM Stage whilst on the open Air Stage,

Brandon Block/Tim Lyall, Norman Jay and Wally Lopez got the people jumping.

The ‘Godfather of the Ibiza Anthem’ Chicane then performed their live show to a crowd who’s population suddenly seemed to age by ten years. Perhaps bringing back memories of those hot and sweaty nights staggering around an Ibiza form party with a bottle of cheap Vodka and one flip flop.

Back over to the XFM Misadventures stage and Tommy Sparks greeted the audience. He hands down took the prize for best outfit of the festival, donning a pink full body jump suit with googly eyes on the hood. It took even the most plastered among us little time to realise he was dressed as Elmo from Sesame Street. It’s a shame Tommy Sparks did not live up to his name and a Sparky was what we needed half way through his set as the power to the Xfm tent was cut. The crowd jeered but he kept his cool and 10 minutes later light flooded back onto the stage.

Then it was time for the main attractions - Moby and Noisettes. We caught the first part of Moby’s performance and that man was worth waiting for. In his only UK festival appearance he performed classics such as Porcelain and although the rain poured the crowd stayed to observe his brilliance.

We then rushed over to watch the Noisettes perform to a packed out Xfm tent. Playing all the songs that has seen them hit such heights this year such as Don’t Upset The Rhythm, Never Forget You and Wild Young Hearts. Before closing with a cover of T-Rex Children of the Revolution.

So the festival got off to a great start and with N.E.R.D, Dizzee Rascal, The Zutons, Tinchy Stryder, The Pigeon Detectives and many more still to perform, Wakestock Festival 2009 is set to be remembered as the best of it’s eventful 10 years.
