ROGUES

Self-confessed "original, ethereal pop music", Rogues appear to have the grooves and the beats to impress very many people out there. Formed in the summer of 2008, Rogues don't appear to be messing around, the tunes are there already, little improvement - if any - is needed. All that's left is to get more publicity.

CALUM MACNAB
Rogues - Not So Pretty

Opening with a fantastic ascending riff, which - when the rest of the band kicks in - becomes phenomenal, Not So Pretty is all in all the perfect indie/dance song. A brilliant sing-along chorus adds more brilliance to the ultimate party song and from here on in you can't help but fall in love with it. It's songs like this that Foals want to make, but constantly fail to do so, yet Rogues have it perfect from the off. If you like indie -

check it out. If you like pop - check it out. If you like dance - check it out. It's not often one band have the potential to keep faithful to three genres, but with more songs like this then Rogues will achieve it without difficulty.

Clearly influenced by the 80's synth pop and modern indie (and from the looks of things in certain promo shots The Horrors as well), Rogues are the band to go to if you want retro mashed properly with modern music, they do it effortlessly and brilliantly. Made up of "3 brothers and 2 drifters" it is entirely clear that each member knows exactly what they want and how to get it. The end result? Amazing. This song will make you smile, it'll make you dance, it'll send a "shiver, shiver down your spine", and this coming from someone who is not a huge indie/dance fan. It's that good.

Fantastic reviews from the likes of Steve Lamacq, air play from Zane Lowe and an upcoming slot at this years V festival highlight that, in only around one years time, Rogues have pretty much made it, all that's left is to build their profile and this shouldn't be a problem. Nobody's made poppy dance rock so good since New Order, and while Rogues aren't on the same level,
Not So Pretty shows that they're pretty damn close.
