The end of August approaches once again. Summer slowly winds to a close and life returns to normal: school; work; university and so on. However, if you want to see the finish in a different, more enjoyable way then get yourself down to the Brecon Beacons in South Wales for the 2009 Green Man Festival. This year boasting several noticeable names including: Jarvis Cocker; Camera Obscura; and legendary "space rock" group Hawkwind amongst others, Green Man Festival is sure to be a hit once again.

THE GREEN MAN PREVIEW
CALUM MACNAB
The Green Man Festival

Aside from live music across five stages, Green Man has many other things going on to keep fans occupied, such as: Literature; film; comedy; and even all-night bonfires, and with less than 500 tickets left it's quite clear that this festival has come along way in a short space of time. Beginning in 2003 as a simple 300 capacity event, it has suddenly evolved into a three day festival taking in a wide variety in music genres from folk to dub-reggae, indie to dance and so on, there's definitely sure to be something for everyone. Along it's short journey, Green Man has been lucky enough to have had big names such as Robert Plant and Seasick Steve grace the proceedings with their presence, an excellent feat for the festival, and once again the festival seems to be on the up with many new hidden surprises around the site. One such surprise is "Einstein's Garden" which aims to introduce Green, Environmental issues in a fun and informative way...we'll see how that pans out. Widely regarded as the "leading boutique festival" on the UK circuit, Green

Man is not only popular due to its large appeal with big acts, but also as a result of its unique factor - this festival is different from your T in the Parks and Glastonburys, and it benefits all the more from it, trust me.

With many reviews praising the festival for diferent reasons:
"a relaxed and family friendly vibe" (Mojo); "eccentricity is the beating heart of this festival" (The Independent); "the variety of music on offer puts most other festivals to shame" (NME), it is obvious that Green Man is doing everything right - consistently putting on a good show and taking care of it's fans, and thus on the 21st/22nd/23rd of August, if you're not there, then it's a massive loss on your part.
