Ok, so first off I must iterate the fact that this particular run down is in no particular order, nor is it a definitive list of the best British record labels of all time (as if such a breakdown could ever be truly quantified). TOP 10 BRITISH MALE ARTISTS
THOMAS HIGGS

1. James Morrison

Ok, forget the whole Nelly Furtado thing. Forget all about the bordering-on-cringe-worthy lyrics about love and all that metaphysical junk. James Morrison has an astonishing voice. I hesitate to call him the 21st century Rod Stewart, but you know what I mean. He has an impressive and unique vocal style, just a shame its crafted to the requirements of the mainstream.

2. Newton Faulkner

If you haven’t heard of Newton Faulkner, Its probably because the hype died down months ago. He’s still up there on the alternative/acoustic side of things. If you don’t like his voice, you have to praise some of his guitar work. Oh, and try to avoid his cover of the Spongebob square pants theme.

3. Damien Rice

Meh. That’s the word that comes to mind. But, the fact is this bloke is loved all over the Uk. Yeah the lyrics sorta make you sick up in your mouth a bit, but he sells a lot of records. He hasn’t been busy lately, but you can guarantee he’ll be back with more heartfelt songs that your girlfriend will love sooner than you think.

4. Dizzee Rascal

What can I say? He’s a UK phenomenon. Some have criticised him from turning his back on the type of music he found his roots in, but things can only get better for Mr Rascal.

5. Calvin Harris

Dance, deliberate cheese, hints of serious trance: that’s why we love Calvin Harris. He has a clever way of making a mockery of the cheesy dance beats of the past, whilst making quality original music. Soundasapound.

6. Paulo Nutini

Not my cuppa tea. But he had balls to try and reinvent his sound with the latest album. Bit of funk, bit of ska, bit of alright.

7. Robbie Williams

Purely here because the stats back him up. But honestly, what a bore.

8. Plan B

Starring in Harry brown certainly helped to promote his name. Plan B is tearing up itunes at the moment, and it seems everyone is buying his tracks.

9. Tiny Tempah

Just about making its way out of Djs play lists considering it has been milked in the clubs. Got a feeling he won't progress that far but the public seem to like his piss-poor lyrics enough to buy his records.

10. Lemar

Well, everyone’s gotta have a guilty pleasure.
